She’s come a long way. One year after Robin Williams’ death, his daughter, Zelda,
is reaching out to those who have also lost a loved one. The actress
penned a moving note to her Instagram followers on Saturday Sept. 5,
following a night out with close friends.
“I came to a realization this year that I feel compelled to share here, for whomsoever may need it: Avoiding fear, sadness or anger is not the same thing as being happy. I live my sadness every day, but I don't resent it anymore,” Zelda, 26, shared. “Instead, I do it now so that the wonderful moments of joy I do find are not in order to forget, but to inhabit and enjoy for their own sake. It's not easy. In fact, I'd say it takes much more effort to consciously do than it does to just stay sad, but with all my heart, I cannot tell you how worth it it is.”
The Oscar winner’s daughter also posted a beautiful photo of the moonrise reflecting on a lake. She wrote how grateful she was for experiencing such a beautiful sight - and laughing all day - with those she cares about most. (Zelda took a break from social media following Robin’s tragic death, briefly returned, and took a second break this past July.)
The Good Will Hunting actor suffered from anxiety and Parkinson’s disease before committing suicide at the age of 63 on Aug. 11, 2014. In her post, Zelda specifically reached out to those who suffer from depression.
