Aunty Ade, Ella told me that you haven't been yourself for a while now. She complained bitterly about how you felt life wasn't fair to you and how you thought you were a failure because aunty Joy seems to be doing well, living her dreams and fulfilling this thing called purpose. She was close to tears as she narrated how you snapped at everyone who tried to calm you down and told you things would get better. Well aunty Ade, I'm not here to do any of those things, things would definitely get better when you make better choices. I would only remind you of our neighbours. Yes,our neighbours back then at Ife.
Jerry and Tony are their names, they both attended the same school and were classmates. They had a striking resemblance that people thought they were brothers. Tony lost his dad at 5 and mum at 7 so he had to put up with his grand mum in the village while Jerry grew up with a silver spoon.
Aunty Ade,it is worthy to note that both Tony and Jerry grew up to be Men. The circumstances around Tony and the challenges he had to face didn't change him to a woman,it didn't stop his growth process,it didn't stop puberty from taking its toll neither did it stop him from adding a year to his age...he might appear lanky and tattered but the constant 'k' here is that he became a man and same goes for Jerry.
Another aspect worthy of note was that they both knew they had common grounds : they were both men, they had unique Ideas and peculiarities, they had to do this purpose thing so well but they understood that just as they grew in different homes, circumstances and challenges, they knew purpose differs and that process also differs.
Tony and Jerry are both doing very well now in their fields. Tony is making waves in the digital space and Jerry in the business world.
Tony knew he had to learn a lot that his standard of living couldn't afford him. While Tony was learning,Jerry had already mastered the ropes and was excelling in his field. Tony didn't fold his hand and merely wished he was like Jerry, he didn't lament at how life was unfair to him,he didn't compare himself. He had learnt that there are different routes to the village square and some took longer minutes than the others. He knew he was on one of the long routes and so he was rest assured that he would still get to the village square just in time.
Aunty Ade, I'm here to tell you to learn from Tony. I would leave you with this: A man that builds his house in six months and moves is no different from the man who builds in two years and moves in...they're both landlords.
Cheers to a beautiful life🍻
