CORONAVIRUS As Lagos shuts down schools; releases emergency numbers.



Lagos State Government, has announced the closing down of all public and private schools from Monday, 23rd March 2020 as part of the preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

This move was necessitated by the urgent need to prevent teachers and pupils from getting vulnerable to the pandemic.

According to the government, the closure is not intended to create panic, but to arrest the spread of the disease which has become a global threat.



The Incident Command Centre, headed by the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the Incident Commander, will continue to trace all contacts of the identified cases.

Hence, the government encourages anyone who has information about suspected cases to report to the nearest hospital, or call the following emergency numbers: 08023169485, 08033565529, 08052817243, 08023401214.



Nigeria currently has six confirmed cases of Coronavirus, and this has prompted the Federal Government to ban entry into the country for travellers from thirteen countries, namely: China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, USA, and UK. These countries have more than 1,000 cases of the virus.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has also suspended the issuance of visa on arrival to travellers from these countries. All travellers returning from these countries prior to the restriction will be in supervised self-isolation monitored by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and Port Health Services.
